Current IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions, Matt & Nick Jackson, will not be appearing on as many NJPW tours moving forward. The Young Bucks are now in a position where it makes sense for them to only participate in the bigger NJPW shows.

According to a recent report from the Wrestling Observer, the Young Bucks will not participate in the World Tag League this November despite being IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions. The last time the heavyweight tag champs didn’t participate in the tournament was 2009 when the titles were held by Team 3-D.

“In the spot they are in now, it really doesn’t make sense both for ROH which they are key players on every show, as well as time with family, and even non-wrestling autograph show bookings which they can get when ROH doesn’t have weekend shows,” wrote Dave Meltzer.

The Young Bucks will continue to play a key role on big shows, however, especially when the promotion holds shows in the United States. It sounds as though the “Road to ___” shows will rarely feature the Bucks in the future.

At Fighting Spirit Unleashed this Sunday, the Bucks will defend their IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships against Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa, the Guerrillas of Destiny. At Death Before Dishonor tomorrow, the Bucks will team with Cody, Marty Scurll, and Hangman Page to take on CHAOS.
