Rey Mysterio has made his return to the WWE as a full-time star with the company. The former WWE Champion defeated Shinsuke Nakamura in a world cup qualifying match on SmackDown 1000 that took place on Tuesday night in Washington, DC at the Capital One Arena on the USA Network. He’s expected to be featured on the roster of the blue brand going forward.

Mysterio has made a few appearances for WWE this year as he worked the Royal Rumble in January and was also at April’s Greatest Royal Rumble from Saudi Arabia in April. He is featured as a pre-order bonus character for the WWE 2K19 video game that comes out this month.

Mysterio recently signed a new 2-year deal with WWE. The agreement reportedly includes a stipulation that he can ‘give notice’ to the company at the 18-month mark.
