Earlier this week on Monday Night RAW, now-former WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns delivered some devastating news. After years of remission, he has once again been diagnosed with leukemia. Reigns revealed that he would be taking a leave of absence to focus on his health. He was adamant that he wasn’t retiring, and will come back to the WWE ring after he beats leukemia.

This situation has sparked a serious conversation in the professional wrestling world. Currently, most major professional wrestling promotions don’t provide their talents with health insurance. That’s because they’re considered independent contractors and don’t receive benefits from their employers. Many within the industry would like to see this change.

However, it might not unless wrestlers unionize similar to the way NFL players did – before being given insurance, pensions, education, and more. With that being said, The Young Bucks’ Nick Jackson recently commented on the matter. He responded to a fan on Twitter who said he believes companies should provide their wrestlers with health insurance. Jackson agreed with the fan:

I agree.
