The first match for the final ROH PPV event, Final Battle, of 2018 has been officially announced. On Wednesday, the company announced that Dalton Castle would battle Matt Taven with the “real world title’ being on the line. This marks the first time that these top stars face off in a one-on-one match ever inside an ROH ring.

This feud dates back to May when Castle was scheduled to defend his ROH World Title against him but Castle was not medically cleared to compete and the match was called off. Taven still has yet to receive a one-on-one match for the championship.

They then compete in the Four Corner Survival Match for the title in June that was won by Jay Lethal and also included Cody. Fast forward to the final stop on the Global Wars tour in Buffalo, N.Y., this past Sunday, Taven challenged Castle to this match at Final Battle.

The Baltimore-based promotion is expected to announce more matches for this show in the coming weeks. Ring of Honor is slated to hold their Final Battle pay-per-view event on December 14, 2018 in Manhattan, New York at the Hammerstein Ballroom. ROH will be holding TV tapings in Philadelphia the following night for upcoming episodes of their television show.
