While we have seen a number of shocking events on WWE Programming in recent weeks, Roman Reigns relinquishing the Universal Championship still sits on the top.

During a recent interview with Comicbook.com in order to promote the release of Marine 6, Shawn Michaels talked about a number of things, including Reigns’ previous battle with Leukemia.

Shawn said that the fact that Roman didn’t use his illness to help him get over shows that he wanted to go on his own merit and be judged on his own ability:

“He could have used that to help in the wrestling business to help him “get over” but that was something the human being, who he is, the real-life person didn’t want to do that he just wanted to put that behind him, go on his own merit, go on his own ability and be judged on that. And that speaks to the real character behind that young man.”

Apart from this Shawn Michaels also talked about how the wrestlers live in a constant world of make-believe and it’s the greatest thing in the world since it allows them to not grow up and become adults.

However every now and then real life throws something in your face. It makes you understand that real life does happen and it also helps in appreciating the time they have with each other.
