The episode was expected to draw better viewership as WWE loaded up the show and it being the first live episode in two weeks Some of the matches that took place include Finn Balor, John Cena & Seth Rollins defeated Bobby Lashley, Dean Ambrose & Drew McIntyre, Bobby Roode & Chad Gable defeated The Revival to retain the RAW Tag Team Titles, Sasha Banks defeated Nia Jax, and Dean Ambrose defeated Seth Rollins to retain the Intercontential Championship. Appearances by the likes of Hulk Hogan, Brock Lesnar, and Braun Strowman were also hyped.

WWE also hyped the Royal Rumble and the matches taking place at that show. WWE will keep up this momentum with its viewership for RAW next week, which could be an easier task with it not going against the College Football Playoff National Championship game.

The show had to go up against ESPN which was averaging 24,322,000 million viewers for the Alabama vs. Clemson National Championship game.
