WWE recently teased a segment on RAW where Kurt Angle looked to be announcing his retirement from in-ring competition. It looks as though this was done for an upcoming angle at WrestleMania.

There has reportedly been talk of doing a retirement bout for Angle within WWE for some time. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Radio show recently claimed that the match is being heavily considered for WrestleMania 35 in April. There’s unfortunately no word on who Angle may be facing at the show of shows as of writing. Meltzer did claim that there’s been talks with Angle for a him to appear at WrestleMania in-ring.

Kurt Angle has worked in a number of multi-man matches since his return. Angle’s first being at TLC 2017 where he teamed with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. This saw Angle defeat The Bar, Kane, The Miz and Braun Strowman in a TLC Match. Kurt also appeared at the 2017 Survivor Series pay-per-view in a traditional 5-on-5 match. Angle’s biggest return bout saw him teaming with RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey for WrestleMania 34 against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.

One of the performers who could be considered for the match is John Cena. The former WWE Champion’s first ever WWE match came against Angle and this could be a way to round out the Olympian’s career. Cena has been working sporadically for WWE since last year’s WrestleMania, where he lost to The Undertaker.
