WWE Champion Daniel Bryan has received an opponent at the next pay-per-view event for the company. During Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live n New Orleans, LA at the Smoothie Center, it was confirmed that Bryan will make his next title defense against Kofi Kingston at Fastlane.

Longtime pro wrestling reporter Dave Meltzer first reported the news on Tuesday morning. In the report, it was noted that WWE already had plans in place for both Fastlane and WrestleMania which did not involve Kingston on Monday morning.

However, plans changed once Kingston put on an impressive performance in the Elimination Chamber Match at Sunday’s pay-per-view event against Bryan, Jeff Hardy, Samoa Joe, Randy Orton, and AJ Styles. Kingston and Bryan were the final two stars in this match. As a result of this performance and the praise he received, WWE changed plans.

As of this writing, there’s no word yet on if this change of plans will affect the original WWE title plans for WrestleMania 35 as Bryan was scheduled to face someone making a return.

WWE presents the Fastlane pay-per-view event on March 10, 2019 at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio that will air on the WWE Network. WWE will be announcing more matches for this show in the coming weeks.
