Former WWE and WCW Star Terri Runnels was arrested this Wednesday morning for carrying a loaded gun into the airport on Florida.

TMZ was first to report the news of her arrest. They revealed that the 52-year-old Runnels was arrested by the Tampa International Airport Police.

She was reported to be carrying a “concealed firearm,” which is a class 3 felony. The charge for it carries a punishment of up to 5 years in prison and up to $5,000 dollars in fine.

She was later released on a $2,000 bond and after her release, Runnels sent out a video statement from her Twitter account, saying that this incident was an ‘honest mistake’:

Love you all…THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THE CALLS AND MESSAGES!

According to her, she is used to carrying the gun for visits to her mother’s house to deal with armadillos which have been digging up the yard.

Runnels told the cops that she simply forgot that she had the gun in the backpack after getting only 8 hours of sleep in the last three days.

Terri Runnels started her wrestling career in NWA in 1998 and she went on to work for both WWE and WCW. She mostly worked in a managing capacity but also held the WWE Hardcore Championship at one occasion.
