CM Punk took a shot at Shane McMahon in a post on his official Twitter account after seeing a tweet from Dave Sholler, who was in attendance at Sunday’s WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view event.

McMahon and Drew McIntyre lost to Roman Reigns and The Undertaker in a tag team match that served as the opening contest. This is when Punk noticed the post and wrote the following in this tweet that he later deleted:

Back in April, Punk appeared on Stadium’s Sauce & Shram show where he was asked a few questions about WWE. One of the questions was about WWE using the “Best In the World” nickname for former WWE SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon since November. Punk used the same nickname while he was under contract.

This is where Punk noted that the “funny thing about the company, is I could say, ‘Yea that’s a little shot at me,’ And you know, it probably is. But they’d deny it until the cows come home.”

Punk decided to walk out of WWE on the Monday following the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event in 2014. Since he departed from the WWE, fans have wanted to see Punk compete in the squared circle again.
