Joey Mercury is reportedly done with Ring of Honor according to PWInsider. He has been working backstage for the promotion in a creative and producer role since May 2018. He also oversaw ROH’s training dojo.

Mercury has allegedly been removed from both roles following the company’s recent tour in the United Kingdom, Honor United. His departure is described as being a “mutually agreed upon decision” by both parties.

He is still technically contracted to ROH due to the non-compete clause coming into effect. At the time of writing, there is no further information as to when this non-compete clause expires or whether Mercury has aspirations to return to in-ring action or continue his creative/backstage work.

Prior to his time with ROH, Mercury had been a part of WWE both as a Superstar and backstage producer. He was released in 2017, working as a trainer on the independent scene until his hiring by ROH in 2018.

As a WWE Superstar, he was a part of CM Punk’s Straight Edge Society stable. During Seth Rollins’ heel run, Mercury was one half of J&J security alongside Jamie Noble, aligning with The Authority. He is also a three-time WWE Tag Team Champion, having won the belts with his partner, Johnny Nitro.
