Matt Sydal sustained an injury during an EVOLVE show last night. It was Sydal’s first match with EVOLVE since 2014 and his first match wrestling as Evan Bourne since leaving WWE in 2013. According to reports from fans in attendance, Sydal went to the back just 2 minutes into his match against Leon Ruff and did not return.

It is being reported that Ruff may have landed on Sydal awkwardly and Sydal went to the back after experiencing numbness.

Leon Ruff seemingly hit him the wrong way with a move. He got up, rolled out of the ring and walked to the back. Ref went after him..and said he couldn’t continue and that was it.

According to a report from PW Insider, Sydal fears he may have suffered a neck injury during the match, though this has not been confirmed.

36-year-old Matt Sydal is a 19-year pro having originally trained with Gateway Championship Wrestling. He’s won championships with several major wrestling promotions including WWE, ROH, Impact, and NJPW.
