Steve Garcia will look to spoil the UFC debut of Peter Barrett.

The two have been booked for a featherweight matchup at a UFC Fight Night event on Aug. 8 in Las Vegas, MMA Fighting confirmed with sources following an initial report by MMA Junkie. Garcia (11-4) and Barrett (11-3) are dropping down to 145 pounds after competing at lightweight in their most recent appearances.

This is the second time Barrett’s UFC debut has been booked. The Massachusetts native earned a contract after defeating Sang Hoon Yoo on the Contender Series in August. He was to face Danny Henry at UFC Lincoln on April 25, but that event was cancelled due to the outbreak of the coronavirus. A training partner of UFC vets Joe Lauzon and Calvin Kattar, Barrett has won three of his last four fights.

Garcia also seeks his first UFC win. “Mean Machine” made his octagon debut in February, losing a unanimous decision to Luis Pena. Prior to that, Garcia’s resume included victories in the Legacy Fighting Alliance, Contender Series, and Bellator.
