Aaron Phillips got the call to return to the UFC as a replacement on “Fight Island.”

MMA Fighting confirmed with sources that Phillips (12-3) will fight Jack Shore in on July 15 at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. Phillips is stepping in on short-notice for Anderson dos Santos, who withdrew from the event after testing positive for COVID-19.

MMA Junkie was first to report the change.

It is not known if the bout will proceed at bantamweight as originally scheduled.

Phillips previously competed for the UFC in 2014, when he lost both of his octagon appearances to Matt Hobar and Sam Sicilia. Since then, Phillips has gone 5-1 with finishes in four of his past five fights.

Shore brings an unblemished 12-0 record to “Fight Island.” The former Cage Warriors bantamweight champion made a successful UFC debut by defeating Nohelin Hernandez by third-round submission in September.
