The UFC’s return to Las Vegas has added a bantamweight bout between Luke Sanders and Chris Gutierrez.

Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that the 135-pound matchup will take place Aug. 1 following an initial report from MMA Junkie. The event will take place at the UFC APEX and stream on ESPN+.

Sanders will return to the octagon following an 18-month layoff following his second-round TKO win over former world champion Renan Barao in February 2019. “Cool Hand” is 3-3 in his UFC tenure, which includes victories over Maximo Blanco and Patrick Willams.

Gutierrez enters the fight riding a three-fight winning streak. Following his short notice UFC debut loss to Raoni Barcelos at the TUF 28 Finale in November 2018, “El Guapo” earned decision wins over Ryan MacDonald and Geraldo de Freitas. In his most recent appearance, Gutierrez picked up his first UFC finish—a second-round leg kick TKO finish of Vince Morales at UFC on ESPN 9 in May.

Headlining the Aug. 1 event will be a pivotal women’s bantamweight bout between former champion Holly Holm and surging contender Irene Aldana.
