Former WWE Superstar Andrade made his AEW debut on Friday’s episode of AEW Dynamite. He is now known as Adrade El Idolo.

During a segment that saw Mark Henry speaking to Tony Schiavone in the ring, Vickie Guerrero interrupted and told Henry and Tony Schiavone to get out of the ring. She then introduced her new client, Andrade. He also cut a promo and vowed to be the new ‘Face of AEW.’

Andrade requested his release from WWE earlier this year, but at the time, the company didn’t want to give it to him. That changed days later and on the same night as the Fastlane pay-per-view event, WWE confirmed they’d granted his release.

When he was let go, the belief was that he was under the standard 90-day non-compete clause as it would’ve prevented him from working for a major promotion or sign with anyone until that clause was up, but that wasn’t the case. Instead, WWE surprisingly gave him the release without such a clause.

Andrade is scheduled to face Kenny Omega for the AAA Mega Championship at Triplemania in August.

Prior to joining WWE, he was a main eventer as La Sombra for years with CMLL where he held the World Title several times.
