Why did WWE receive such little representation at the recent upfront presentations for NBCU and FOX?

The NBCU presentation took place at New York City's Radio City Music Hall. With the exception of WWE content being included in a video package promoting, there was no mention of either Monday Night Raw or WWE NXT, both of which air on the USA Network. This is similar to FOX's recent upfront presentation, which featured no references to SmackDown, despite the blue brand airing on FOX since 2019.

While WWE didn't get mentioned by either broadcast partner, this shouldn't be a cause for concern for those within the wrestling promotion. Sources who spoke to PW Insider Elite explained that in both FOX and NBCU, WWE programming is housed under the sports divisions. These upfront presentations were produced by the entertainment divisions for both broadcasters.

PW Insider Elite was also told that there will be an all-hands-on-deck meeting with WWE employees this Wednesday. This meeting has been planned for some time and is not an unforeseen addition to the company's schedule.

WWE's deals with FOX and NBCUniversal are generally considered the highest earner for WWE, followed by the promotion's deal with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. WWE's current agreement with NBC Universal for WWE NXT is due to expire this September, while their agreement over Monday Night Raw expires at the end of this year.

WWE's deal with Peacock to house WWE Network programming as well as live WWE events runs through January 2026. WWE's TV deal with FOX is expected to expire in the fall of 2024.
