May 2023 has proven to be a rough month for the Tag Team Champions of professional wrestling, as Aussie Open learned very recently.

Earlier this month, Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez were forced to forfeit their WWE Women's Tag Team Championships due to an injury suffered by Morgan. The pair had been scheduled to defend their titles on last week's Raw, but the match was nixed. Instead, Rodriguez defeated Chelsea Green and was attacked post-match by the returning Ronda Rousey and Sonya Deville. New champions will be crowned on the May 29, episode of Monday Night Raw.

During NJPW Resurgence, Kyle Fletcher of Aussie Open appeared on the show with some bad news. Fletcher explained that due to Mark Davis' injury, the team is vacating both the IWGP World Tag Team Championships and the NJPW Strong Tag Team Championships. New champions will be crowned at the upcoming Dominion event next month. At Dominion, the scheduled threeway tag-team bout between Aussie Open, House of Torture, and Bishamon will now be House of Torture (EVIL & Yujiro Takahashi) vs. Bishamon (Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI) for both the IWGP World Tag and NJPW Strong Tag Team Titles.

Aussie Open captured the IWGP World Tag Team Championships at Sakura Genesis on April 8. The team dethroned Goto and YOSHI-HASHI for the gold. One week later, Aussie Open dethroned the Motor City Machine Guns at Capital Collision in Washington D.C. to win the Strong titles.
