Mercedes Moné did not leave NJPW Resurgence as the NJPW Strong Women's Champion but did leave with an apparent leg injury.

The show saw Willow Nightingale be crowned the first-ever NJPW Strong Women's Champion, winning a four-woman one-night tournament. In the opening round, Nightingale, representing AEW, defeated STARDOM's Momo Khogo. In the finals, the AEW star defeated NJPW's Moné, who had advanced earlier in the night with a win over CMLL's Stephanie Vaquer.

The apparent injury seemingly occurred when Moné jumped from the ring post to the outside, clotheslining Nightingale in the process. After the move, the former WWE Superstar was unable to put any weight on her right leg. The match continued for close to a minute and included a spot that saw Nightingale hit a powerbomb and get the pin. Moné did not kick out but the referee did not count to three, claiming that Moné had gotten her shoulder up. Nightingale would hit a second powerbomb to get the victory and the title.

Taking to Twitter, Moné shared a brief video of herself after the event and appears to be on some kind of medical bed. The former IWGP Women's World Champion said that things did not go how she dreamed. Seemingly confirming the injury, Moné added that she plans to heal and be back better than ever. New Japan Pro Wrestling has not commented on Moné's reported injury at this time.
