IMPACT Wrestling star Trinity Fatu (formerly Naomi in WWE) has revealed that Mercedes Mone (formerly Sasha Banks in WWE) had her back through thick and thin.

Last year, Trinity and Mercedes had their future up in the air after abruptly departing WWE. They went on to embark on a new journey in their wrestling careers. Following their walkout from WWE, the former Naomi and Sasha Banks wanted to explore new opportunities.

Mercedes Mone went on to work with NJPW and STARDOM while Trinity made the move to IMPACT Wrestling. They supported each other during the hard times and Trinity is fortunate to have a friend like Mercedes in her life.

Ahead of her Knockouts Championship match at Slammiversary next month, Trinity joined in for an interview with Sherri Shepherd on her daytime talk show, Sherri. Amidst their conversation, Trinity discussed her friendship with Mercedes and how it helped ease the transition out of WWE.

“It’s very difficult sometimes to get out of your comfort zone. And she and I kind of experienced that together, just the unknown, but having her to confide in, especially those times where it really did get hard. That’s my sister for life. Our relationship goes beyond wrestling.”

“We always had, I think, a great special connection. Just being together in the business over the years, working together, experiencing things together, even real-life stuff, family, we just experienced so much together. And I think it’s very special when you find people like that in the business where it goes beyond the work to that. Yeah, I love her. She’s the goat, the greatest of all time.”

Trinity has her sights set on the Knockouts Championship, while Mone is recuperating from an injury she sustained during her match at NJPW Resurgence.
