Default First weekend revenue for 'The Marine'; See No Evil comparisons, more

The Pro Wrestling Torch reports that the weekend opening of WWE Films' "The Marine" starring WWE Champion John Cena finished with a total gross of $7 million in over 2,500 theatres nationwide.

While this wasn't a "box office disaster", it was definitely on the lower end of what WWE was hoping the film would draw in its opening week. This is why we didn't see WWE bragging about the numbers the film drew this past Monday night on Raw.

In comparison, "See No Evil" starring Kane earned $4.5 million in its opening weekend and garnered a total of $15 million in United States box office revenue. It should be noted that production costs for "The Marine" were $15 million.

Its no surprise that the film wasn't that great, I mean they are Wrestlers, and its a WWE production. Obviously it won't be that famous, or that liked. They should stick to wrestling and their shows instead of expanding into other areas.

That is now, officially, the silliest thing that I have ever read on this site. Vince has made billions of dollars by taking his company mainstream and by trying things that no one ever would have done before him. His main priority, as the owner and CEO of a billion dollar corporation, is to look for new ways to make more money and the best way to do that is to branch off into other sections. Vince's ideas, specifically the biggest failures such as the XFL and the Media Divisions, have had the potential to make unlimited amounts of cash. Sure he might miss most of the time, but he is a success because of the expansions he has made.
