Ronda Rousey has apparently turned heel as her rivalry with longtime best friend Shayna Baszler ignites.

Rousey was betrayed by her tag team partner Shayna Baszler at Saturday’s WWE Money in the Bank 2023 pay-per-view event. Baszler and Rousey put their Unified WWE Women's Tag Team Championships on the line against Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez.

In the shocking turn of events, Baszler attacked Rousey during the match and locked her in the Kirifuda Clutch. This left Rousey helpless in the ring as the victim and ultimately allowed Morgan and Rodriguez to regain their tag team gold.


On the latest edition of Monday Night Raw, Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler were involved in a promo segment, where the 'Baddest Woman on the Planet' was seen as the heel.

Rousey demanded that Shayna Baszler come out and explain why she attacked her. Baszler didn’t waste any time and marched to the ring while telling Rousey that if it wasn’t for her, she’d never have been in WWE.

Baszler went on to say that Rousey wasn’t there for her during her worst days, including when she was setting up the ring and working indie events in front of 30 people. Baszler said Rousey had been handed everything on a silver platter, and she was sick of it. It seemed Baszler had the fans behind her.

Ronda then kicked Baszler and went for the sleeper hold but Shayna escaped and locks in the ankle lock. Shayna hit Ronda with a running knee to end the segment.

During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed how fans turned on Ronda Rousey, despite the fact that she was the victim at Money in the Bank. This sets up an interesting dynamic for their SummerSlam feud.

"So, Shayna does a total heel turn on the pay-per-view, but Ronda comes out as the total heel face and as the heel. Shayna attacked her from behind for no reason, but [fans turned on Rousey] and that’s ended up happening."

WWE is set to hold SummerSlam on August 5th, at Detroit’s Ford Field and there is a possibility that Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler could settle the dispute at the event.
