IYO SKY is the new WWE Women's Champion, but when was the call made for her to cash in Money in the Bank?

SKY captured the WWE Women's Championship at Summerslam, defeating Bianca Belair, who mere moments earlier had captured the title from Asuka. SKY's title match came about thanks to her Money in the Bank contract which the Damage CTRL member won at the WWE Money in the Bank Premium Live Event last month. This win at Summerslam marks SKY's first singles title on WWE's main roster. She is a former NXT Women's & NXT Women's Tag Champion and a former WWE Women's Tag Team Champion.

SKY waiting over a month before cashing in makes her time as Miss Money in the Bank the second-longest in history, as WWE typically has a cash-in attempt by a female Superstar almost immediately. Fightful Select reports that the decision for SKY to cash in at Summerslam was not a last-minute call. It remains unclear when exactly the decision was made.

SKY's monumental victory comes at an interesting time for Damage CTRL, which first made its presence felt at Summerslam 2022. Not too long ago, WWE were teasing a split in the group and Bayley even tried to cost SKY the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match. After Dakota Kai's injury though, it appears that WWE is holding off on a split just yet, and both Bayley and Kai celebrated with SKY at Summerslam. During the post-show press conference, Kai gave an update on her health and recovery.
