Plans may have been spoiled for WWE's upcoming Payback Premium Live Event, including the return of WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi.

WWE Payback will take place on September 2, from the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The show will be the first Payback event since 2020, which famously saw Roman Reigns begin his ongoing reign as WWE Universal Champion. The show will also likely be the final WWE Premium Live Event as a standalone entity given reports that the promotion's merger with UFC is expected to be finalized in mid-to-late September.

At WWE SummerSlam 2023, Jimmy Uso betrayed Jey Uso in 'Tribal Combat' and explained his actions on this week's SmackDown. While there have been discussions about a match between the brothers happening at WrestleMania, it appears that the bout will happen far sooner than that.

On social media, a promotional image has been going around advertising WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi. The image also encourages fans to meet the former Intercontinental Champion "before he referees at Payback." As the father of the Usos, there would be no other match that the Samoan superheavyweight would officiate. WWE has not commented on these plans at this time. On Twitter, Rikishi reacted to the spoiler, calling it a "wrong promoter mistake."

While plans for Payback remain under wraps (for the most part,) there are some ideas surrounding the upcoming event. It has been reported that Roman Reigns will not be a part of the show, despite the seeming involvement of his family members.

One name fans shouldn't expect for WWE Payback is Brock Lesnar. The former Universal Champion is not expected to compete on WWE programming for the rest of this year.
