Nick Aldis & Robert Roode were both around at last Friday's SmackDown to shadow producers.

The August 11, 2023, episode of WWE SmackDown dealt with the consequences of this month's SummerSlam Premium Live Event. On the show, Jimmy Uso justified betraying his brother in Tribal Combat, saying he didn't want Jey to become a tyrant like Roman Reigns. SmackDown also saw Rey Mysterio capture the United States Championship, ending the 250+ day reign of Austin Theory.

According to Fightful Select, both Nick Aldis and Robert Roode attended this week's SmackDown and shadowed producers. Aldis shadowed fellow IMPACT Wrestling alum Petey Williams who produced the match between AJ Styles and Karrion Kross. Styles would defeat Kross, who was laughing after his loss.

Roode worked with Jamie Noble as they produced the United States Championship match between Austin Theory and Rey Mysterio. The report adds that Roode and Noble produced some backstage segments together for the show as well.

WWE has had its eye on Aldis since his exit from the NWA, but the former World Champion would join IMPACT Wrestling. After leaving IMPACT, it was reported that WWE is eyeing Aldis for a backstage producer role. There has not been any confirmation whether WWE has any plans for Aldis to be on-screen.

Roode has been out of action for over a year due to a series of neck surgeries. Roode first went under the knife last December and had his second operation in May.
