One-half of the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Piper Niven was absent from this week's edition of Monday Night Raw. A report has emerged regarding her status.

Many believe that the tag team titles are cursed. The titles have been forced to be vacated multiple times in recent history due to injuries and walkouts. Fans thought Niven might be the latest victim of the bad luck.

During last night's Raw, Adam Pearce revealed Piper Niven was not cleared to compete. This led to speculation about the reason behind her absence.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that the word backstage is that Niven is dealing with a short-term illness. Sapp added that the management is hopeful that Niven will return in a week or two if her recovery goes well.

He further noted that WWE sources revealed that there are no plans to vacate the tag team titles or take them off of Niven.

“Word backstage is Piper Niven was dealing with a short term illness and would hopefully be back in a week or two if all goes well. And no plans to vacate the Tag-Titles or move them off of Niven.”

When Chelsea Green's original tag team partner suffered ACL injury, Green was adamant about keeping hold of the championships. Niven eventually stepped up and demanded that she would be Green’s partner. During the August 14 episode of Raw, in a backstage segment, she snatched one of the titles off of Chelsea Green and was recognized as Green's new tag team partner as well as the champion.

Niven recently competed on the August 21 episode of Raw. Meanwhile, on last night's Raw, Chelsea Green squared off against Raquel Rodriguez in a losing effort. We will have to wait and see what the future holds for the Women's Tag Team titles.
