The WWE TV return of the Authors of Pain could be mere hours away given that the tag team is in Orlando.

The Authors of Pain, Akam and Rezar, were released from WWE in September 2020. Since then, the former NXT and Raw Tag Team Champions have not wrestled in any promotion. The pair attempted to create their own promotion 'Wrestling Entertainment Series' last year, bringing in fellow ex-WWE talent including CJ Perry, Lina Fanene, and Adam Scherr. The promotion's first event was canceled, reportedly due to incredibly low ticket sales for the show.

Last week it was reported that the Authors of Pain had been quietly rehired by WWE last year and that their manager Paul Ellering had played a part in the negotiations. It was also stated that the plan is for Akam and Rezar to make a return to NXT as part of their comeback.

PW Insider reports that the Authors of Pain are in Orlando, Florida, ahead of tonight’s NXT. It’s unclear at this whether they will be appearing on the broadcast.

Whether AOP appears on tonight's WWE NXT or not, the show will be a stacked two hours of programming. Tonight's show will see NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton defending against Kiana James while Dragon Lee will face Mustafa Ali with special guest referee Dominik Mysterio in an NXT North American Championship number one contender’s match.

Bron Breakker vs. Von Wagner, Tyler Bate vs. Dabba-Kato, Ilja Dragunov vs. Oro Mensah, and the return of Angel & Humberto have also been announced for tonight's show.
