Court Bauer has spoken about the "deeply troubling" efforts by WWE to monopolize pro-wrestling which he hopes to prove in a court of law.

MLW filed an antitrust lawsuit against WWE in 2022, claiming that Vince McMahon's promotion has unfairly monopolized the wrestling scene with unlawful practices.

A court document filed in August of this year revealed that Stephanie McMahon spoke with a Tubi executive on August 9, 2021, a day before a planned press release announcing a deal between Tubi and MLW. The deal was terminated that night. WWE has denied that McMahon pressured executives to terminate the deal.

Speaking to Forbes, Bauer addressed the alleged tactics of WWE, claiming that the company has engaged in 40 years of suppressing any promotion that isn't WWE.

"It’s egregious and deeply troubling for everyone they view as a competitor in addition to [non-WWE] talent. WWE controls 92% of the media rights revenue in this market, and they’re trying to extinguish growth and suffocate their competition.”

WWE's efforts to have this lawsuit dismissed were rejected by the court, and this matter could affect how WWE recruits talent going forward. During a July 2023, edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE is currently hesitant to bring in talent from other companies, as doing so could give a perception that they are poaching talent. WWE is not reaching out to AEW talent in order to avoid bad press, despite being accused of trying to poach performers in the past.
