New Japan Pro Wrestling superstar Will Ospreay will return to Impact Wrestling for one of the company's biggest events of the year. He hasn't competed for Impact Wrestling since 2016, so his appearance at Impact Wrestling Bound For Glory on Oct. 21 will be a special moment. While fans have been speculating on who he would face, the company has announced that he will wrestle "Speedball" Mike Bailey at the upcoming event.
The announcement was shared on Impact Wrestling's Twitter account, with fans and wrestlers praising the matchup.
Impact Wrestling star Jordynne Grace shared her thoughts on Twitter and believes the matchup could be a classic.
"Since 2005, @IMPACTWRESTLING has only had one 5 ⭐️ match, according to @davemeltzerWON. Long overdue for another, and this is gonna be the one," wrote Grace.
Ospreay has had an incredible year with victories over Kazuchika Okada, Kenny Omega, and Chris Jericho. He is also the current IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion and is set to defend the title against rising NJPW prospect Yota Tsuji at NJPW Destruction In Kobe on Sep. 24.
The NJPW talent is heading into Impact Wrestling Bound For Glory with momentum on his side, and his match against "Speedball" could be another great showing for the year. Both have a very unique style that can make for an exciting contest. While Ospreay is known for his high-flying ability that can amaze the crowd, Bailey has a martial arts style that can make it a physical and grueling matchup.
While Impact Wrestling announced Ospreay vs. Bailey for their upcoming PPV, they weren't done sharing big matches for the event. The company revealed their second match for Impact Wrestling Bound For Glory, as Impact World Champion Alex Shelley is set to defend his title against Josh Alexander.
Since Alexander returned at Impact Wrestling Slammiversary on July 15, he has been focused on reclaiming the Impact World Championship. He lost the title due to a torn tricep injury and was forced to vacate it on the April 6 episode of Impact Wrestling.
Although Ospreay and Bailey could be considered the favorite to be the match of the night at next month's PPV, the Impact World Championship match has the potential to be just as exciting or better.
Impact Wrestling Bound For Glory has only two matches on the card, but it already looks like a can't-miss event.
