Eddie Kingston is scheduled to put his NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship on the line against HENARE at the upcoming NJPW Fighting Spirit Unleashed later this month.

NJPW recently made the announcement that HENARE will challenge Eddie Kingston for the NJPW STRONG Openweight Championship at NJPW Fighting Spirit Unleashed on October 28.

HENARE has been eyeing to capture the gold for months and he even attacked Kingston at the G1 Climax 33 semifinals in Ryogoku which led to a brawl. It was an unprovoked assault that saw a quick receipt the next night.

HENARE has been demanding a rematch with Eddie Kingston. Notably, HENARE has stated that he lived the life that Kingston has romanticized as a long-time fan of Japanese wrestling.

Kingston recently defended his title against Katsuyori Shibata at WrestleDream in Seattle. It was a hard-hitting bout but 'The Mad King' managed to clinch the victory and thus retained his title. If HENARE manages to win, he will earn his first singles gold in NJPW.

Meanwhile, NJPW also announced that Giulia will defend the NJPW Strong Women's Championship against Hyan at NJPW Fighting Spirit Unleashed.

The updated lineup for NJPW Strong Fighting Spirit Unleashed is below.

  • Atlantis, Hiroshi Tanahashi, Mistico & Atlantis Jr. vs. Rocky Romero, Tiger Mask, Soberano Jr. & Adrian Quest
  • Stephanie Vaquer & Zeuxis vs. Lluvia & Johnnie Robbie
