SANADA is set to defend his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against Tetsuya Naito in the main event of Wrestle Kingdom 18.

The main event for Wrestle Kingdom 18 is officially set following the conclusion of NJPW Destruction in Ryogoku. In the headlining event on Monday, SANADA successfully retained the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against his former tag partner EVIL in a Lumberjack Death Match.

The back-and-forth match went on for twenty-eight minutes. SANADA and Just Five Guys managed to overcome the numbers of the House of Torture. SANADA kicked off the bout strongly and got the better of EVIL. The final moments of the match saw SANADA reversing the Everything is Evil with one of his own and followed it with a pair of shining wizards and a Dead Fall to win the match. Thus, securing the headlining match at Wrestle Kingdom 18 against G1 Climax winner Tetsuya Naito.

Following the match, Keiji Muto (The Great Muta), who was ringside, presented him with the IWGP World Heavyweight championship.

Ahead of the exciting clash, SANADA cut a promo. He stated that it has come full circle as both he and Naito were part of the same New Japan tryout with the promotion choosing Naito and turning down SANADA.

Naito then entered the ring for a standoff ahead of their bout on January 4 at the Tokyo Dome. It is also worth mentioning Naito and SANADA were part of Los Ingobernables de Japon before SANADA departed the group and joined Just Five Guys.

It is certainly going to be a treat for the fans to see SANADA and Naito battle it out for one of the most prestigious titles in the pro wrestling industry. We will have to wait and see who emerges victorious in the main event of Wrestle Kingdom 18.
