Mercedes Moné is gearing up for a return to the ring. The wrestler/actress formerly known as Sasha Banks has been out of action since May, when she sustained an ankle injury during her match against Willow Nightingale at NJPW STRONG Resurgence.

The injury put a lot of plans on hold, including a debut for All Elite Wrestling. She was expected to compete at the AEWxNJPW: Forbidden Door II PPV back in June, but those plans were scrapped. She later appeared AEW All In: London and has teased that we might see her at AEW's next pay-per-view, Full Gear.

Moné has been keeping fans apprised of her recovery on social media. As seen here, she's no longer wearing a 'boot' on her foot, a sign that her return is nearing:

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that Moné is scheduled to resume working with NJPW STRONG Women's Champion, Giulia.

“I think the date of her comeback probably isn’t so far away," said Meltzer. "The plan is Giulia & Mercedes for the New Japan Women’s Title as soon as possible.”

Mercedes Moné and Giulia have been talking trash on social media for several months. Way back in April, Moné put Giulia on notice and declared that Japan is "my country now bitch."
