The comments by Tony Khan about John Cena & The Undertaker after this week's Tuesday Night War took many within AEW by surprise.

This week, AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT went head-to-head in the battle for ratings, with both shows providing stacked cards. In the hours prior to the show, Khan didn't hold back on social media. In separate tweets, Khan referenced the Vince McMahon allegations and also took aim at Triple H & Shawn Michaels, calling the pair "bald a**holes."

For all of Khan's trash-talking, it was NXT who won decisively in the battle for viewers. WWE's gold brand earned 921,000 viewers, the third-highest viewership since the move to the USA Network in 2019. In contrast, AEW Dynamite was watched by 609,000 fans, the lowest viewership in close to two years.

Despite coming up short, Khan hasn't been backing down on social media. In a tweet after Dynamite's defeat, the AEW President stated that John Cena & The Undertaker had never been on a WWE show with under 1 million views until this week's NXT.

Several people within AEW were surprised by Khan's tweet about Cena and The Undertaker, according to Fightful Select. Khan doesn't clear his tweets with AEW's PR team ahead of time. One source said that those who took issue with the tweet should take a glance at the replies that Tony Khan, Triple H, or any top wrestling executives receive on any given day.

The consensus among those asked was that Khan either shouldn't have said what he said, or that he was having fun with a situation that didn't favor him. One individual pointed out that Khan announced a series of matches for upcoming AEW shows while people were on his profile. Among those who spoke about the tweet, there wasn't any "real concern" about what Khan said.
