Former WWE Superstar Mistico will be making his AEW debut next week on AEW Rampage.

AEW President Tony Khan took to Twitter to announce Mistico's debut. The ex-Superstar will face Rocky Romero for Mexico's Pound-for-Pound Crown.

Next week's Rampage will be taped after the October 18, episode of AEW Dynamite. The two events will take place at the Fort Bend Epicenter in Rosenberg, Texas. Rampage will air on TNT starting at 10:00 p.m. EST.

This match won't be the first time that Mistico and Romero face off. The pair were on opposing sides of a tag match on CMLL's 90th Anniversary show that took place last month. Mistico teamed with Atlantis Jr. & Mascara Sagrado and defeated Romero, TJP, and Kevin Knight. Post-match, Romero's team attacked the winners and unmasked them, with Romero taking Mistico's mask. Romero, alongside Soberano, would also attack Mistico after a match on September 22.

Both men will walk into Rampage as champions for the NWA. Mistico is currently the NWA World Historic Middleweight Champion, a title he defends in CMLL. Romero currently holds the NWA World Historic Welterweight Championship which he also defends in CMLL.

In the U.S. Mistico is best known for his time with WWE where he worked as Sin Cara. Mistico signed with the promotion in 2010 and would debut on Raw the following year. While WWE intended for the masked wrestler to be a modern-day equivalent of Rey Mysterio, Mistico never reached the same heights as the WWE Hall of Famer and was released in 2014.
