Jon Moxley has been out of in-ring action with AEW since suffering a concussion at AEW's Grand Slam event on September 20th. However, his upcoming schedule shows that the former multi-time world champion looks to be cleared very soon.

Moxley has been announced for a match with New Japan Pro-Wrestling on Saturday, November 4 at their Power Struggle event in Osaka. He is scheduled to face Great-O-Kahn at the show

The match came about due to another match on the card — Shota Umino versus Will Ospreay for the IWGP UK/US title.

After Ospreay defeated Zack Sabre, Jr. at Royal Quest III this past Saturday, he challenged any "Japanese sexy b*tch" to face him next. Umino answered that call. Umino also called Ospreay an "ugly f*cker" in his response. Ospreay agreed to the match if Great-O-Kahn was granted a match with Jon Moxley in return. Umino said yes.

The current card for NJPW Power Struggle is as follows.

  • IWGP United Kingdom/United States Champion Will Ospreay vs. Shota Umino
  • IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi vs. Taiji Ishimori
  • NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champions Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi & Tomohiro Ishii vs. Zack Sabre Jr., Shane Haste & Mikey Nicholls
  • Jon Moxley vs. Great-O-Khan
  • Super Junior Tag League Finals
  • SANADA & Yuya Uemura vs. Tetsuya Naito & Yota Tsuji
  • David Finlay vs. Tanga Loa

Moxley's injury in his match with Rey Fenix at AEW Dynamite Grand Slam made headlines for several days due to both the nature of how he reportedly suffered the injury, as well as the surprising outcome of the match itself.

Moxley was set to retain the AEW International title but called an audible mid-match after he was injured during the pre-match brawl section of the bout, allowing Rey Fenix to win the title. Fans initially thought the injury was suffered when Moxley took an awkward looking piledriver (twice) at the end of the match, but that turned out to not be the case.

The change in the result of the match also altered the booking for AEW's WrestleDream show, which reportedly had a different match scheduled for the International title.

This outcome led to some hot-shotting of the belt, which then went from Fenix back to Orange Cassidy, whom Moxley had defeated for the title in early September at AEW All Out.
