AEW's Paul Wight will be making his return to Ohio Valley Wrestling, close to two decades after last appearing for the promotion.

Wight's arrival to AEW was announced in February 2021 and the former World Champion would make his debut in person on the March 3, episode of AEW Dynamite. Despite signing with AEW, Wight made a cameo appearance during the June 27, 2022, episode of WWE Monday Night Raw to speak highly of John Cena, who was celebrating two decades with the promotion.

Wight may have become a staple of AEW but he will soon return to Ohio Valley Wrestling. On Twitter, the official OVW account confirmed that Wight will be a part of tomorrow's show and an update from the promotion revealed that tickets have sold out for the Davis Arena.

In the latter half of 2000, Wight was sent to OVW, which was WWE's developmental territory at the time. The move was notable at the time, considering that Wight had been the WWF World Champion less than a year before the OVW move. Wight was sent to developmental to lose weight and improve his fitness and returned to Television during the 2001 Royal Rumble match. The #23 entrant would score two eliminations (Test & K-Kwik/R-Truth) before being thrown out by The Rock after lasting under two minutes.

The last time Wight appeared in Ohio Valley Wrestling was in 2006 when he wrestled The Miz at the Six Flags Summer Sizzler Series.
