AEW star Bryan Danielson recently underwent surgery to repair an orbital bone fracture. On the latest Control Center video hyping this week’s Dynamite, Tony Schiavone confirmed Danielson is recovering from the procedure and will be out “until later in the year.”

The initial belief was that Danielson was injured on AEW Dynamite (10/25), when he and Claudio Castagnoli wrestled Orange Cassidy and Kazuchika Okada. We've since learned that is not the case.

On a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez shed new light on this situation. According to Alvarez, the American Dragon's injury actually occurred during his match against Andrade on the 10/21 episode of Collision. During a spot that called for Andrade to deliver a spinning elbow to Danielson, they accidentally bumped heads.

Meltzer confirmed that Danielson had a black eye going into the tag match on Dynamite, but nobody was aware how serious the situation was. He was 'healthy enough' to wrestle that night and shoot the angle to write him off television, but now he'll be out for a while.

Despite this new information, AEW is moving forward with the storyline that Danielson was injured in the match against Orange Cassidy and Okada. Claudio Castagnoli, Danielson's partner in the Blackpool Combat Club, has vowed to get revenge on Cassidy and will challenge him for the AEW International Championship this Wednesday on Dynamite.
