    Notes:

    1. Buddy Rogers was awarded the title by promoters after breaking with the NWA, because
    the NWA didn't recognize Rogers' one fall loss of the NWA World title to Lou Thesz on
    January 24, 1963. According to other records, Rogers defeated Antonio Rocca in a fictious
    tournament in Rio De Janerio, Brazil for the title.

    2. The title was reduced to a regional title wehn the WWWF joined the NWA in 1971.

    3. The title was renamed to the WWF title in March of 1973. Bob Backlund wreslted to a Double
    Count Out against AWA World Champion, Nick Bockwinkel, on March 25, 1979 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

    4. Bob Backlund defeated Antonio Inoki in a rematch in Tokyo, Japan on December 6, 1979, but
    the WWF president, Hisashi Shinma, declares the match to be a no-contest because of the interference of Tiger Jeet Singh. President Shinma gives the belt back to Antonio Inoki, but he does not accept it.

    5. Bob Backlund defeated Bobby Duncum for the title. Backlund then defeated NWA World
    Heavyweight Champion, Harley Race, by disqualification on September 22, 1980 in New York City,
    New York. There was no title change. The title was then held-up on October 19, 1981 when Greg
    Valentine is mistakenly given the belt by a dazed referee after being pinned by Backlund.

    6. Bob Backlund defeated Greg Valentine in a rematch. Backlund then wrestles to a Double Count-Out against NWA World Heavyweight Champion, Ric Flair, on July 4, 1982 in Atlanta, Georgia. Backlund was then recognized as the WWF World Heavyweight Champion when the WWF withdrew
    from the NWA in 1983.

    7. Iron Shiek wins the title when Backlund's manager, Arnold Skaaland, throws the towel while Backlund was in the Iron Shiek's camel clutch.

    8. Andre The Giant immediately gives the title belt to Ted DiBiase, but WWF President, Jack Tunney,
    announces the title cannot be given away and by doing so Andre officially vacated the championship.

    9. Randy Savage defeated Ted DiBiase in a tournament final.

    10. The title was held-up on December 4, 1991 after two controversial title changes, and the title will be
    given to the winner of the 1992 Royal Rumble.

    11. Ric Flair wins the title at the Royal Rumble after eliminating Sid Justice.

    12. Yokozuna's manager, Mr. Fuji, challenged Hulk Hogan after the Bret Hart/Yokozuna
    match. Hogan immediately accepted the challenge and pinned Yokozuna for the title.

    13. The title was vacated on February 13, 1997 because of a knee injury.

    14. Bret Hart defeated The Undertaker, Steve Austin, and Vader in a "four corners, no disqualification, elimination" match to win the title.

    15. Earl Hebner, the referee, immediately stops the match when Bret Hart was in the Sharpshooter
    and the title was awarded to Michaels.

    16. Kane wins a "first blood, cage" match won the title after the Undertaker attacked Austin.

    17. The title was vacated in September 27, 1998 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada when Austin
    was pinned by both the Undertaker and Kane simultaneously in a 3-way match for the title.

    18. Rocky Maivia defeated Mankind in a tournament final for the title.

    19. Mankind defeated Rocky Maivia in an "empty arena" match for the title.

    20. Mankind pinned Steve Austin in a triangle match to win the title against Austin and Hunter Hearst Helmsley.

    21. The title was vacated on September 20, 1999.

    22. Hunter Hearst Helmsely defeated Rocky Maivia, Kane, Mankind, The Britsh Bulldog, and The Big
    Show in a "six pack challenge" match.

    23. Paul Wight defeated Hunter Hearst Helmsley and Rocky Maivia in a Triple Threat Match.

    24. Hunter Hearst Helmsley defeated Rocky Maivia in 60 minute "Ironman" match.

    25. Rocky Miavia pinned Vince McMahon in a 6 man tag team match to win the title. The match was Rocky Maivia, The Undertaker, and Kane vs. Hunter Hearst Helmsley, Vince McMahon, and Shane McMahon.

    26. Chris Jericho, WCW World Champion, defeated Steve Austin to unify the WWF and WCW World Heavyweight Titles.

    27. The Rock defeated The Undertaker and Kurt Angle in a three way match to win the title.

    28. No loger billed as "Undisputed" title after Lesnar signs to wrestle exclusively for Smackdown TV program; RAW TV program general manager Eric Bischoff awards World Heavyweight Title to Triple H on September 2, 2002 in Minneapolis, Minnesota for defeating The Undertaker for a top contender match on August 26, 2002.

    29. Kurt Angle defeated Brock Lesnar and The Big Show in a three-way match to win the title.

    30. Brock Lesnar defeated Kurt Angle in a Sixty Minute Ironman match to win the title, 5 falls to 4 falls.

    31. This was a Bullrope match.
