18 NOV NWA ANARCHY RESULTS

Last night’s television taping rocked the world of NWA Anarchy.
In a mind-boggling opening to the holiday mayhem, Anarchy crowned a new champion, suspended their booker, and launched two new feuds, one of which will likely shape the top of the card in Cornelia for many moons.

A return to the Remember When Theater on 12/30 for Season's Beatings looms on the horizon...

Attendance at the NWA Arena in Cornelia was roughly 150. As a measure of the strides this promotion has made over the last year, the first TV taping after Fright Night ’05 drew only 65.

(1) Sal Rinauro & Ace Rockwell beat Brandon Phoenix & Brodie Ray Chase in 12:35. A really fun opener. Lots of good comedy spots in the early going. Rockwell made a chump out of Chase. At one point, The babyface duo faked swanky stereo dives and Rinauro yelled, “Lucha!” Rinauro did a Mistico style arm drag. A leapfrog set up a comic heel collision. Things got turned serious when Chase hit a devastating wheelbarrow suplex on Rinauro. Phoenix crossfaced the crap out of Rinauro and made it clear to a woman in the front row that he wished it was her. Chase used a pumphandle back suplex. The heels doubled up on Rinauro. Ref Jacob Ashworth caught Rockwell in a bearhug and carried him back to the corner. The hot tag lead to more heel miscues. Phoenix inadvertently gave Chase a Stinger splash, and BRC nutted Phoenix with a swan dive headbutt. Rinauro went for Sliced Bread #2 on Phoenix. Chase snuffed that out, but Rockwell came from nowhere with the Aces High to pin Chase. A lot of good ideas were brought into play in the layout of this match.

(2) Jeremy V beat Dexter Poindexter in 7:17. Poindexter was entertaining but not as over with the crowd as he’s been at other times in Anarchy. V decided enough with the cute stuff. He shoved Dex and slapped him across the face. Poindexter dished out some payback. Poindexter mounted V like he was going for the 10 punches and squeezed his tittie instead. V raked the eyes. V hit a chokebreaker. V softened up Poindexter’s back. Then he choked Poindexter with his suspenders. Poindexter vaulted V and nailed him with a low dropkick. V came back with the VKO and tried for the VDT, but Poindexter countered out of it. Poindexter went for Sliced Bread #2. V blocked that. Poindexter slapped the ### out of V. Dex charged. V used Dex’s momentum for a hotshot and got the pin using the ropes for extra leverage. Ref Jacob Ashworth’s ring positioning left a lot to be desired. He must have lousy peripheral vision not to have seen V’s feet on the ropes.

Chad Parham, the former NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Champion and the most arrogant p**** in a 50 mile radius of the NWA Arena, joined announcer Greg Hunter in the ring. Hunter questioned Parham about his actions at Fright Night (a sick piledriver on Anarchy “Technical Consultant” Todd Sexton). Parham said he did it for Sexton’s own good, so Sexton could spend more time with his family. Parham wanted to talk about himself. Cue up the intro music and the crowd love for Anarchy owner Jerry Palmer. Palmer said he was prepared to suspend Parham. Parham said he was expecting it and being that he was more intelligent than all the other guys in the locker room, he had brought a tape from Fright Night. The tape showed Sexton losing his cool and clocking Parham. Parham said that all he did was retaliate after Sexton attacked him. Parham demanded that Palmer suspend Sexton. Palmer reluctantly agreed. The crowd chanted “fire Chad.”

Urban Assault (Shadow Jackson & Nemesis) and Justice Served (Jason Justice & Mikki Free) hit the ring. Palmer gave props to UAS on becoming three-time NWA Anarchy tag team champions and to Justice Served for ending the threat of Devil’s Rejects (“with a little help from A. J. Styles”). Justice said that he and Free wanted the tag straps. Palmer made the match as one of tonight’s main events.

(3) Onyx (with Jeff G. Bailey) beat Patrick Bentley (with Seth Delay) when Delay threw in the towel (6:54). Bentley slapped the full nelson on Onyx in the opening minute. Onyx broke it and answered with a back suplex. Bentley gave Onyx another taste of his own medicine with a flying shoulder block. Bentley followed Onyx the outside. Onyx used the veteran trick of being the first one back in the ring and cutting Bentley off on the reentry. Bentley sold a hard Irish whip like his back was on fire. Onyx destroyed Bentley’s back. Onyx pounded Bentley from the mount. Onyx applied an abdominal stretch. Bentley fired back with lefts and rights. Bentley pulled off a sweet bulldog counter to an Onyx hiptoss. Bentley flew from the top, but Onyx caught him with the full nelson. Bentley got close to breaking the hold. Onyx cinched it in tight, but Bentley appeared to have plenty of fight in him when Delay threw in Bailey’s white handkerchief. Bentley was not a happy camper. He walked out when Delay tried to raise his hand. Credit Bentley for making the finish work. He did a good job with his body language and facial expressions to get across that he wasn’t ready to quit.

(4) Justice Served versus Urban Assault ended as a double count at 4:34. Justice Served opened up on Nemesis with their power game. Nemesis jolted Justice with a jawbreaker and made the tag. Jackson planted Justice with a spinebuster. Jackson went to work with bionic elbows. When Nemesis stuck a sneaky knee in Justice’s back, all hell broke loose. The combatants battled around the ringside area and up the ramp. Referee Harold James had no choice but to call for the bell. The crowd was only semi-excited about it. However…

Fans filed out of the building for intermission to find the two teams had carried the action out to the parking lot. I missed most of it but it was said to be wild stuff involving liberal use of fixed objects. The parking lot gate was bent at a weird angle, and the fence separating the wrestlers parking area from the fans was all torn up. Security had to separate them. Nemesis, in particular, was on the verge of going over the edge.

The second half opened with Dan “The Dragon” Wilson addressing the crowd. Wilson said he was wrong for the things he did with Devil’s Rejects. He said that the personal life of the Dragon hadn’t been great over the last year. Wilson told the fans that he didn’t deserve to be in the business and they might never see him again. “I know I disappointed you, and I learned an important lesson.” The crowd didn’t know what to make of this.

(5) Seth Delay beat Adrian Hawkins in 8:38. It was back and forth in the early minutes with each man scoring some near falls. When Delay got dropkicked out of the ring, Hawkins spread the ropes to let him back in. Hawkins did a nice combo that ended with a vertical suplex for a near fall. Hawkins hit a sunset flip from the apron for a near fall. Delay clotheslined Hawkins over the top and skinned the cat. Delay offered to spread the ropes for Hawkins. But when Hawkins dropped his head to step through, Delay DDTed his dopey ass for the 1-2-3. Heelish as hell and the crowd still popped for it.

(6) Adam Roberts pinned T. C. Carnage in 2:18. Carnage jumped Roberts as he was making his way towards the ring. Carnage dropped Roberts on his head for a near fall. Carnage leveled Roberts with a high boot for another two count. Roberts pulled a set of knucks out of his boot, but Carnage backdropped him and got the knucks. Referee Wesley Grissom blocked Carnage from using the knucks. Carnage started to gripe and Roberts surprised him with a schoolboy for the 1-2-3. Fans let Roberts know that they thought he sucked.

(7) Hayden Young & Austin Creed beat Muscle Madness (Phil Shatter & Truitt Fields) in 5:11. Madness are newcomers to Anarchy. They were trained by Rob “The Stroh” Kellum and worked a lot of South Carolina indies. Fields has a good look. I think they can do something with him. The high energy intro and high flying style employed by Young and Creed are both way over with the Anarchy fans. Young and Creed did a scary double dive where Creed overshot the target and appeared to nosedive into the floor. He was OK but a close call for sure. Young did a sweet tornillo forearm and Creed followed with a top rope drop for a near fall. Creed took heat from Madness. The crowd got behind Creed, who hit a twisting flying bodypress for a double down spot. Young ran wild off the hot tag. Finish was excellent -- Creed’s James Brown haymaker followed by Young’s killer Flying Squirrel.

Ring announcer Eddie Rich directed the fans’ attention to the WrestleVision screen where Hunter was backstage with Bailey and the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Champion, Jeff Lewis. Bailey said Lewis had humiliated Slim J at Fright Night and left him for dead with his own submission hold. Bailey described Lewis as “luminous” and “incandescent” and called him a submission expert.

Wilson approached to humbly thank Bailey for mentoring him. Or so it appeared. As soon as Lewis bowed out of the picture, Wilson accused Bailey of colluding with Palmer to bring in Abyss and Styles against his Rejects. Azrael and Shaun Tempers grabbed Bailey. Wilson covered Bailey’s nose with an ether-filled rag. Bailey slumped to floor. The closing shot showed an unconscious Bailey drooling from the mouth. “Let’s see how the champ does without his guiding light.” The crowd popped for ether rag. I’m guessing partly in support of Wilson and partly for the coolness of something totally unexpected.

(8) Slim J beat Jeff Lewis (with Bailey) to win the NWA Anarchy Heavyweight Title in 15:42. The opening minutes saw J repeatedly catch Lewis with variations on the cross armbreaker. Lewis kept going for the ropes. At 5 minutes in, Lewis converted J’s high crossbody into a powerslam. Lewis went for submission with a bow and arrow and a leg lace. J grapevined Lewis’ leg and fans were calling for the tap out. Lewis shook J off. Lewis hit a quebradora and went back to the bow and arrow. Bailey stumbled down the ramp and grabbed a seat. Lewis wanted to know what was up with him. J capitalized with a stiff lariat. J applied a version of the triangle. Bailey crawled down to the ring and collapsed. Lewis got J in a bridging reverse chinlock. J escaped. Lewis took a big bump. J went for a flying bodypress and ended up with a guillotine. Lewis made the ropes. J applied the STF. Bailey wanted to interfere but he could barely stand up, much less get in the ring. Lewis tapped for a mega pop. J relished the moment and rightly f###### so. Whatever you want say about a guy J’s size as a heavyweight champion, and he’s probably the smallest heavyweight champion in the world right now, there’s no questioning his contributions to wrestling in Cornelia over the last 6 years. Countless quality matches and never anything less than all out effort, often to the detriment of his health and well-being. J circled through the crowd, slapping skin and shaking hands every step of the way. Then it was up to the top of the bleachers with the crowd chanting his name, and the babyface side of the dressing room out to lead the applause.
