FWA – BRITISH WRESTLING....New Year News Flash 5/1/06

Everyone at the Frontier Wrestling Alliance would like to wish all fans of British Wrestling a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. We look forward to seeing you at ringside at our events in 2006.

NEW YEAR NEWS FLASH – NEW FRONTIERS ANNOUNCED

The New Year in the FWA begins as always with FWA New Frontiers at Broxbourne Civic Hall, Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire on Sunday, February 5 2006.

This curtain-raiser to the FWA’s New Year is traditionally a time when old acquaintances are definitely forgotten…for the sake of winning the most prestigious championship in British Wrestling – the FWA British Heavyweight Championship. And this year’s event will be no exception when eight of the FWA’s top stars get a chance to become the number one man in British Wrestling today in a one-night tournament called The Champions Series.

In The Champions Series, current FWA British Heavyweight Champion ‘The Showstealer’ Alex Shane is awaiting the winners of four qualifying singles matches at New Frontiers. These winners will challenge Shane in The Champions Final, a five-way brawl in the main event of New Frontiers – with no disqualification or countout – where the man who scores the winning fall or submission will be the FWA British Heavyweight Champion.

The FWA has hand-picked the eight challengers in The Champions Series and so far has announced the first four participants. They are:

Joe Legend – from Canada, former WWE star and current number one contender to the FWA British Heavyweight Title

‘The Anarchist’ Doug Williams – former FWA British Heavyweight Champion and former GHC World Tag Team Champion in Japan’s Pro Wrestling NOAH

‘The Phoenix’ Jody Fleisch – former FWA British Heavyweight Champion and King Of England tournament winner 2002

James Tighe – one of the most proficient technical wrestlers in British Wrestling today and a top contender for both the FWA British Heavyweight Title and the FWA All-England Title

The other four names in The Champions Series will be announced very soon and then a draw will be made for the four qualifying singles matches to determine Alex Shane’s opponents in The Champions Final. These matches will be announced on this website following the draw.

Stay tuned for more news on FWA New Frontiers: The Champions Series and matches to be signed for this event.
