Default This day in history - 5th March

Was not sure where to put this but I thought this will do for now, if anyone has any ideas, give a yell out.

    March 4th

On this day in history in ....

2001 - What many feel was the unofficial sign that Extreme Championship Wrestling, which had not promoted a live event in well over a month, was not going to survive occurred. Early in the day word leaked from Washington, D.C. at the MCI Center where Raw was taking place that ECW owner/booker Paul Heyman was involved in the Raw production meeting for the show, and would join Jim Ross on commentary for Raw. Heyman had not signed a deal at that time, and referred to himself as being a "guest" on the program. In typical Paul E. style, he wore an ECW hat on the show, made references to his promotion's title history, and used the word "Extreme" several times, to the point that Jim Ross told him to "stop beating a dead horse." No mention was made of the March 11th Living Dangerously PPV, despite the fact that it had yet to be officially cancelled. Heyman also created a stir within the first two minutes of the program by coming right out and telling the fans that Jerry Lawler was not present because he had quit in support of his then-wife, Stacy "Kat" Carter, who was released by the company. Four days later, Heyman would officially cancel the Living Dangerously PPV (which never had a building announced, just PPV time reserved on cable systems), and become the regular Raw color commentator, until Lawler's eventual return. The official declaration of Extreme Championship Wrestling shutting down would soon follow.

2001 - The Hardy Boyz defeated The Dudley Boyz for the WWF Tag Team World Tag Team Title in Washington, D.C., starting their fourth tag title reign, and ending the Dudleys' second run with the belts.

2003 - Travis Bane & Seven defeated Rene DuPree & Lance Cade in the finals of a tournament for the Ohio Valley Southern Heavyweight Tag Title.
