pulled out all the stops by having some of

Montana & shot over 300 animals out of
season & were selling the "antlers". He says
those 2 got busted due to a tip line, says
each state has a tip line that helps fishing
wildlife officers that bust people like those
2.

Percy says this is a real good thing & while
he's on the show talking to fans that listen
to Hillbilly, he wants to encourage everyone
that if they're gonna keep the sport [hunting & fishing] alive, they have to play
by the rules & if you see someone that don't, it's not snitching but you need to let
someone know about it. He says the wildlife
belongs to everyone & if we're gonna
preserve it for the future, we need to take
care of it. Hillbilly says those are golden
words from Percy & again says Chris Knight

Hillbilly says he knows Percy's been in town
doing some hunting & says spring's busy for him. Percy says he's in town for the
[Kentucky] Derby weekend:
www.kentuckyderby.com by celebrating &
taking a day or 2 off. He tells Spike to hand
him another beer as well as to tell "Ma" to

comments on the show. Hillbilly asks Percy

food & says he knows Percy's got lots of
critters that he's gotta feed.

Percy says that was a bad deal, says luckly
the brands that he uses wasn't didn't have
any poison in it & says all we have to do is be careful & watch the labels as close as we
can. Hillbilly says that's all we can do because we don't know what they put in
there & asks as to what're the symptoms to
look for if your animal's got a problem.
Percy says if it involves poison & if you're
looking for some trouble involving urinating too much or not urinating
enough in the dogs. He says that's something else fans can email him about &

he's got good sense. He again tells Percy
that he's happy that he's here & asks him to
talk about what's going on in the hunting &
fishing world. Percy says he's glad to be here, says he's looking at the music that's
here today & says 1 of the things that he
saw & will keep an eye on during the next
couple of weeks, is the growing controversy
on how states work together on water
control. He says it's because it's a big
interest to lots of fishermen, says after the
show he & Hillbilly will be going fishing &
says 1 of the things to look at is the water
quality standards is something that we need to look in the news is an issue.

Percy says it's because West Virginia's getting ready discharge a bunch of bad

he might as well have fun while he can
because she won't let it last. Hillbilly says
even out in the country you have to drive
responsibly & then asks him as to what else
is happening. Percy says he was daydreaming during the last few songs
while looking outside, says the clouds are
rolling in & some winds are getting up. He
says he may go out & try running a
"Buzzbay" across the lake & may catch a

connects with people with, says he knows
people in Texas loves him because he's a big deal to them & likes their songwriters &
asks if it's the way he just says as he feels.
Chris says it's got lots to do with what he
feels & says he's had guys come to him that
he's saying what they don't know how to
say. Hillbilly agrees because there's 1 tune
on the album where Chris talks about kids & the Mama running away with a salesman.
He says the kids miss their Mama & Chris
misses her too if he had time, says that's
simple but it's really getting into it & it
breaks it down & tells everything.

Hillbilly says when Chris throws it out there
simply like that it endures people to songs,
says he's lucky to have Chris on today &
again plugs Chris' site for info on his tour
dates & album. He says it's been about a year since the last time Chris' been on, says
he's traveled a lot since then & lots of things have happened for him. He says Chris has his guitar with him & asks if he can play a tune on the show, Chris says yes
& Hillbilly says after he plays a set of songs,
he'll have Chris sing 1 on his show. He says
he'll play 1 now called "Hard Edges", says he
loves it & asked him as to how long did it
take to write it. Chris says he wrote that with Craig Wiseman & says it didn't take
long. He says it took maybe a couple of times to get together & knocked it out.

31.Plays Chris Knight's "Hard Edges" & Steve Earle's "Guitar Town".

32.Hillbilly says he's having a ball of a weekend, says again it's Derby weekend & asks Chris if the Kentucky Derby's a big thing & Chris says he guesses that it is.
Hillbilly asks if he's ever been to 1 because
he's never been to 1 & Chris says he's never
been into an infield. Hillbilly says it looks like such a hassle because he don't wanna
go there, stand there & be uncomfortable &
says he couldn't do it. He says he got thru
playing "Guitar Town", says they compare
Chris with Steve Earle with some of Steve's
writings & stuff & asks him as to how it makes him feel. He also asks Chris if he talks
to Steve about that because both of them
are in the same kind of world & have a
circle that they travel in.

Chris says he's never had a conversation
with Steve, says he's met him backstage at
Farm Aid: www.farmaid.org & says that's
what everyone talks about for a long time.
Chris says he can't help it because it's like
Steve was the biggest influence on his
songwriting & when he heard his guitar on
him & it blew him away. Hillbilly says he
hears the John Prine but when he hears
Chris' stuff, he hears Chris Knight because
he's got his own thing. He says everyone's
got a little of [Bob] Dylan or any singer or
songwriter that's all in there & a little bit of
Prine. He says Chris' taken it & has his own
thing, says that's why he likes about it so
much & asks Chris to sing a tune from the
"Enough Rope" album in the studio:
http://************/2z5n48

Chris says yes & the song's called "To Get Back Home" from "Enough Rope". He says
it's like an unromantic view of the road &
then sings the song. After singing the song
Hillbilly says he felt like he won the Derby
after hearing the song & again plugs Chris'
site He tells Chris that's beautiful & Chris
says thanks. Hillbilly says that song got him
& his producer [Steve Popavich Jr.] all fired
up & wants to get Chris on the payroll so he
can have him on more often by bringing him to some barbeques. He says if anyone
hasn't had a chance to see Chris in concert you're really missing something, says you
have to get upclose & personal because it's
very moving.

Hillbilly says you'll love Chris' music, says it's
amazing & mentions more concert dates
that Chris' doing. He says on 5/16 he'll be in
Little Rock, Arkansas, 5/17 in Dallas, 5/18 in
New Braunfels, Texas, 5/19 in Austin, Texas, 5/20 in Plano, Texas, 6/2 in Harlan, Kentucky, 6/9 in Bellows Falls, Vermont, 7/1
at Cruisin' with Ragweed & Friends in Texas
& 7/20 in Somerset, Kentucky. He tells Chris
that fans need to have more of this because
it's a great tune, Chris says thanks & Hillbilly says Chris always makes him happy
when he comes to Mud Lick to do this. He
says he'll now play another tune from "The
Trailer Tapes" that's 1 of his favorites called
"Rita's Only Fault".

Hillbilly says he really enjoys it, says his friend Steve English who's wife is named
Rita & is crazy about the song. He says the
song tells a great story about a lady that's
her only fault where she chooses the wrong
man. He asks Chris as to what type of a mood did he get to write that song, Chris
says that song went pretty quick because he
was at his producer Frank Verdel's house when he wrote it. He says he don't know
what hit him, says he may've seen a picture
of something with a woman in handcuffs. He says he don't know what she did but he
came up with that story, Hillbilly tells fans if
they get the CD "Trailer Park", then corrects
himself & says "The Trailer Tapes" & then
says he'll be alright.

Hillbilly says he's all fired up after that
performance [of Chris singing in the studio]
& says if you get his album, you'll hear lots
of interesting things that'll make you think
like that & then plays "Rita's Only Fault".

33.Plays Chris Knight's "Rita's Only Fault" &
The Road Hammers' "The Hammer Goin'
Down".

34.Hillbilly says The Road Hammers did a
Chris Knight tune of "The Hammer Goin'
Down", says they did a heck of a job & asks
Chris if he's got his seal of approval Chris
says yes & they did a real good job, Hillbilly
asks him as to how does it feel when these
artists do his songs because it's gotta be a
source of pride for a great songwriter like
him to feel like it's getting out there &
people are hearing what he's trying to say.
Chris says that's what he came to Nashville
for was to get people to record his songs,
says they do a good job on them & always
liked it when someone to record a song of
his.

Chris says it helps a lot when others hear it, says when someone else sings it, someone else hears it & may seek him out & maybe
can see that they've never heard of him.
Hillbilly says that's how lots of guys find
guys like that by wondering as to who wrote that song, Chris Knight wrote it & it's
a great 1. He again plugs Chris' site for info
on his tour & album, says the album's fantastic & thinks about some of the titles &
mentions "Backwater Blues", "Something
Changed", "Rita's Only Fault", "Spike Drivin'
Blues", "Move On", "Hard Edges", "Here Comes The Rain", "Leaving Souvenirs",
"House & 90 Acres", "If I Were You" & "My Only Prayer" & says it's a great sound.

Hillbilly says every 1 of them makes you
wanna listen to them, says all of them are
great & asks Chris if the album was like a
demo to him as well as what made him
release it in that form. He says he knows he
did some of the songs on his other albums
with bands but says this album's stripped
down to the bare & essential Chris Knight &
says it's heavy. Chris says when he got his
1st record deal & getting ready to go to
making the album, his producer Frank had a long list of songs & was thinking about
cutting them. He says they didn't have good
versions of them but decided to take some
recording equipment at his place in Kentucky when he lived in a horse farm
when he rented a trailer there.

Chris says up there he hooked the stuff up,
started recording them & part of it was for
the pre-production of the 1st album & part of it was just for posterity or whatever to
have it down. He says he also remembers
Frank having it in the back of his mind of
when he'll put it out 1 of these days. Hillbillly says it's a better music world out
there for that, Chris says it kinda took on a
life of it's own when people were talking
about it in '98 when he made his 1st album.
Hillbilly says it's a great 1, tells Chris he
appreciates him taking time out to come on
his show & knows that he's busy. He says
Kentucky's proud of him & wanna make sure that they fly the Chris Knight banner up high & let everyone worldwide know of
what a great artist & singer Chris is.

Hillbilly says it's good to get someone that
you relate to, says he gets Chris in there
because he knows where he's from & what
he's talking about. He says it's like what
Chris said when he told him a while ago
that some people like listening to him
because it's like Chris can say what others
can't say. He says that's what a songwriter
really does, says Chris' singing is fabulous &
loves the way he delivers it. He tells Chris
that besides being a songwriter he loves him as a recording artist as well as being a
great singer. He says Chris' voice is something that he can embrace, says he's got a great voice & it's not like most
hillbillies but Chris sings on key.

Hillbilly again says he appreciates Chris for
being on the show, says he'll let him leave
now & says it's been a great weekend for
them. He again plugs Chris' site for info on
his tours & albums & says he'll now play a
song that he likes a lot from "The Trailer
Tapes" called "Move On". He tells Chris that
he likes that song & it's about 2 guys that
don't like each other. Chris says he may've
seen that happen somewhere, says it was 1
Sunday morning where he may've been
hungover & just sat & had lots of fun writing it. Hillbilly says everyone loves it,
Chris says it may offend [some people]
because he's had folks walk out from a show from a long time ago when he plays it.

Chris says people would just sit & stare at him when playing it, then has had people
were gonna record it but their producers
would tell them no because it's too mean.
He says he can't imagine someone being
offended like a guy with an earing at his
show being offended by the chorus of it. He
says it's just a story, Hillbilly says it's great
because Chris says he's from college but
don't think he's too smart. He also says
Chris brought a switchblade at a gun fight,
says he's gotta be kidding him & says that's
great stuff. He again tells Chris that he
appreciates him & if there's anything that he wants to do, the door's open for him
24/7 to come back on his show. He again
tells fans if they haven't had a chance to see
Chris to do so, says he predicts Chris' new
CD will be legendary forever & plays the
song "Move On".

35.Plays Chris Knight's "Move On" & Emmylou Harris' "Amarillo".

36.Hillbilly says Emmylou's got a voice like an angel, says he hoped you've enjoyed his
show as much as he has because he's had a
hootnanny of a time. He thanks Chris for
coming on who's an entertainer, singer &
says he's just great He again plugs Chris'
site for his album & tour dates, again plugs
Foley's appearance for next week about his
book as well as his injuries & matches. He
thanks Spike, Percy Mandoberg & producer
Steve Popavich Jr. He says he ain't here for a long time, he's here for a good time & he's had a great time by thanking all of the
"hill-billions" out there. He says he loves you & will see you next week & says to hold
on for Clement's show after his.

37.Ends with Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Gimme 3
Steps" & the show ends at 2:01PM.
