Katie Holmes's parents have met their granddaughter for the first time.

Suri - the Dawson's Creek star's first child with actor-fiancée Tom
Cruise - was born on April 18 but Katie's parents were not present at the birth.

Martin Senior and Kathy Holmes missed the big event because they had to fly from her bedside in Los Angeles to Florida just a few days before the due date.

However, the couple have now flown in from their hometown of Toledo, Ohio, to spend time with Suri, their daughter and Tom - who has been busy on a whirlwind world tour promoting new movie, Mission: Impossible III.

However, Katie and Suri were never far from this thoughts.

While in Paris, the actor pulled out of a press conference - to go shopping for baby clothes.

However, despite feeling the need for some retail therapy, Tom didn't disappoint the thousands of fans who had turned up to see him at the film's premiere.

He arrived by helicopter at La Defence - a high-rise complex in the west of the city - for the red carpet screening and his trademark meet and greet with fans.

Despite the intensive media push, Mission: Impossible III failed to set the US box office alight at the weekend.

It took $47,7-million (R290-million) in its first weekend. However, that figure was substantially below what studio bosses had been expecting - and $10-million less than Mission: Impossible II in 2000.
