The “UFC On Demand” library of fight footage just got a whole lot sweeter. In addition to videos of past UFC events, subcribers can now watch historic fights from PRIDE Fighting Championships.

Zuffa LLC (the UFC’s parent company) purchased PRIDE earlier this year, and as part of the sale, Zuffa acquired the rights to PRIDE’s video library.

Current offerings include former PRIDE fighters who are now signed to UFC deals. For example, UFC on Demand subscribers can watch Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs. Ricardo Arona (PRIDE: Final Conflict 2005), Dan Henderson vs. Wanderlei Silva (Pride 33: Second Coming), and Quinton Jackson vs. Ricardo Arona (PRIDE Critical Countdown 2004).

UFC on Demand’s fight library, available at video.ufc.com, is updated weekly.

Subscriptions start at $9.99 per month (if purchasing a six-month subscription). Viewers can also choose an “al a carte” option and purchase fights for $1.99 each. However, each video comes with just a 30-day license. Subcribers can simply re-download any videos once the license expires, but the a-la-carte folks are simply getting a one-month rental for their two bucks.

Subscribers can also watch live UFC events on the Web as part of the service, which is a great option for fans who don’t have access to pay-per-view or cable television. (However, some people have experienced less-than-optimal results with the live broadcasts.)

One of the major perks of UFC On Demand is access to unaired preliminary fights. The fights are usually available within 48 hours of each UFC event’s conclusion. Aside from waiting months — or in some cases, years — for an event to be released on DVD, UFC on Demand is the only way to watch some of these un-televised fights.
