PASSION-NUT: Mel Gibson's laywer says the actor/director has met the punishment conditions set by a court after his drink driving arrest last year.
Mel Gibson has met the conditions set by a court as punishment for his drunken driving arrest last year, his attorney has told a judge.

Gibson, 51, famously made anti-Semitic slurs when arrested in Malibu, California, in July 2006, and he has since apologized publicly.

He pleaded no contest to drunken driving charges, was ordered to serve three years probation, pay $US1400 in fines and attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

Gibson's attorney Blair Berk appeared at a hearing in Malibu, a posh seaside community outside Los Angeles, and presented a judge with documents showing the actor paid his fines, attended AA meetings and complied with his probation.

The judge told Berk that Gibson must be present for his next hearing, which is scheduled for February 15, 2008.

For many years, Gibson has been a big box-office draw in Hollywood. He has acted in hit movies like Lethal Weapon series and directed films such as Oscar-winning Braveheart and religious-themed The Passion of the Christ.
