A recently posted tech note (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306583) on Apple’s Web site advises users to make sure they update their copy of Boot Camp before it expires.

Boot Camp is the software that enables Intel-based Macs to run Windows by restarting their computers. It’s a free alternative to commercial virtualization products like Parallels Desktop for Mac or VMware Fusion, though like those other products, it requires a licensed copy of Windows in order to operate.

Since its 2006 introduction, Apple has offered Boot Camp as a public beta. When Mac OS X v10.5 “Leopard” ships — hopefully this month — Boot Camp will be included as part of the package.

Apple notes that Boot Camp 1.2 or earlier has expired on Sep. 30, 2007. In order to continue using the software, you’ll need to update to Boot Camp beta 1.4.

The license to use Boot Camp 1.3 or 1.4 expires when Apple ships Leopard, according to the note.
