Roots rocker John Mellencamp is the feature act for the Mission Concert in Napier next year.
Known for hits including Hurts So Good and Jack and Diane, Mellencamp will be announced today as the star attraction for the March 1 concert, which attracts a capacity 25,000 music fans.
The American singer-songwriter will perform in the big, open-air concert at the Mission Estate winery. Several support acts are yet to be announced.
Previously known as John Cougar Mellencamp, his music career began in the 1980s - since when he has produced 21 albums.
From noon today and for the next 10 days, tickets will be available only to the 30,000 members of the online Mission Concert Club, before going on general sale.
An estimated 9000 tickets had been sold before Mellencamp was named. Prices start at $99.
