Scialfa and Springsteen were buying the horse for their daughter
Rock star Bruce Springsteen is being sued for $850,000 (£415,973) by a man who claims he backed out of a contract to buy a horse.
Springsteen and his wife Patti Scialfa are both named in legal documents filed in Florida by Todd Minikus.
He claims the couple pulled out of a deal to pay $650,000 (£358,097) for the horse, named Pavarotti, and give him their horse, Scarlett.
A representative for Springsteen said she had no information about the case.
According to court papers, the rock star and his wife planned to buy the horse for their teenage daughter.
A $25,000 (£12,235) deposit was paid, and a veterinarian examined the animal before they signed a contract.
The couple's change of heart is alleged to have come after Minikus, a former member of the US equestrian team, rode the 10-year-old horse at the Pan American Games in Brazil.
He is seeking damages and compensation for the continued daily upkeep of Pavarotti.
