A Michigan sheriff who had promised to help a Bonnie & Clyde-style pair of bank robbery suspects get married in jail if they surrendered has withdrawn the offer, after they were arrested.

Harold Holt and Elizabeth Bruman, both 24, were arrested on Friday in Cheyenne, Wyoming, on warrants charging them with armed robbery of a bank on Septmber 18.

Sheriff Ron Kalanquin held a news conference last week at which he offered to marry the fugitives in jail if they surrendered before their cash ran out and they attempted another robbery.

The offer was prompted after they had been found to have spent part of their loot on buying wedding rings.

'That offer is off the table, since they did not surrender,' Parks said Sunday night.

The couple was traced through telephone calls to a homeless shelter in Cheyenne, said Lapeer County sheriff's Sgt. Jason Parks.

Holt and Bruman were being held in a Wyoming jail pending extradition to Michigan, a process that could take at least a week, Parks said.
