Minogue is preparing to release her tenth album

Pop star Kylie Minogue is to celebrate her musical comeback with an hour-long special on ITV1.

The Kylie Show will feature new songs from her forthcoming album, X, mixed with classics from her 20-year career.

Producers promise a unique "visual experience" to accompany every track, in contrast to ITV's concert-style Audience With Kylie Minogue in 2001.

Minogue picked up Q magazine's icon award on Monday. Her new single, 2 Hearts, has just had its first airing.

The glam rock-tinged song, which is not out until 12 November, is produced by London electro band Kish Mauve.

In the video, which also premiered on Wednesday, Minogue sings into a microphone capped with a diamond-encrusted skull - much like the Damien Hirst creation which recently sold for £50m.

'Surprises'

The star has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide
The single and album mark Minogue's return to music following her diagnosis with breast cancer in May 2005.

She had surgery in Australia two days later and finished her chemotherapy in December 2005.

She returned to the stage in late 2006, performing a string of concerts in Australia and the UK before starting recording sessions for X, her tenth studio album.

Although she worked with famous names like Mylo and Scissor Sisters, the 39-year-old has revealed that none of their collaborations made the final cut.

Speaking about the ITV show, Minogue said: "My creative team and I are preparing a fabulous evening with a mixture of old songs, new songs and lots of surprises thrown into the mix as well."

In a statement, ITV said the programme's producers were "pushing the boundaries to create an original and visually breathtaking piece of entertainment".

It is due to air later this year.
